                                                       Lazarus

Get set to catch the sensational new London musical, Lazarus featuring heart touching compositions by David Bowie at the King’s Cross Theatre. The exciting London musical is based on the book The Man Who Fell To Earth by Walter Tevis. Earlier, Bowie had starred in the movie version.

On November 2015, the show was staged for the first time at the New York Theatre Workshop. The premiere of the show was on 7th December 2015 in New York and it was the last public appearance of Bowie. Some of the brilliant musical numbers from the career of Bowie are featured in Lazarus such as popular classics like Life on Mars, Heroes and Changes. The show also features three original tracks which have been penned specifically for Lazarus - No Plan, Killing A Little Time and When I Met You.

Enda Walsh, a popular Irish playwright has co-written this musical. He has earned critical acclamations with varied popular productions like Once, The Twits and Disco Pigs. Belgian director Ivo van Hove has directed the show, Lazarus. He is a renowned artistic director of Toneelgroep Amsterdam in the Netherlands. His recent direction credits include A View from the Bridge at the Young Vic and The Crucible on Broadway.

Lazarus is the story of Thomas Newton, who is a ‘man’ unable to die and a haunting past love story. The story runs for a few days, where there is arrival of another wandering soul, who would be able to set him free from this planet. Interestingly, the original cast of New York will reprise their characters in London West show, such as Michael C Hall will portray the lead role of Thomas Newton. His credits include Dexter Morgan in Dexter and David Fisher in Six Feet Under. Other actors to accompany him are Michael Esper of American Idiot, The Last Ship and The Lyons fame. He will portray the role of Valentine and Sophia Anne Caruso as Girl.

The five decades long musical career of David Bowie, who is considered as one of most iconic pop stars had consistently innovated his creativity into varied projects such as theatre, film and television. If you are his fan then Lazarus is a must watch as it is certainly one of his last artistic works. The previews of the show will begin at the King's Cross Theatre on 25th October 2016 and will run until 22nd January 2017.
