In the year 2017, the show enjoyed a completely sold-out premiere at the RSC. Now, the show is all set to make its return for a limited run of 12 week at the Gielgud Theatre. Mike Poulton’s show is adapted from fanovelist Robert Harris’ best-selling Cicero trilogy. The show is truly a historical thriller featuring six one-act plays in two parts; Imperium I: Conspirator and Imperium II: Dictator.

The shows beautifully depict the downfall of the Republic of Rome, as well as immense influence of philosopher and orator Cicero. The show, Imperium II: Dictator revolves around Cicero and how he tries to use his own brilliance for the restoration of power to the Senate. This action has been taken by him to stop the increasing civic mob and their leader Julius Caesar.

The lead role of Cicero is portrayed by Richard McCabe along with Joseph Kloska as his servant Tiro. He is the narrator of this production. McCabe is a hugely famous and talented Tony and Olivier Award-winning actor. Some of his critically acclaimed works are The Audience, and also known for BBC’s Collateral. In the Netflix’s The Crown, Kloska is known for amazing performance.

Other cast members are Nicholas Boulton, Guy Burgess, Daniel Burke, Jade Croot, Peter De Jersey, Joe Dixon, John Dougall, Michael Grady-Hall, Oliver Johnstone, Paul Kemp, Patrick Knowles, Hywel Morgan, David Nicolle, Siobhan Redmond, Patrick Romer, Christopher Saul, Eloise Secker and Simon Thorp. Under the superb direction of Gregory Doran, the show is a complete treat to watch along with artistic Director of the RSC. Mike Poulton has adapted for the stage known for critically-acclaimed adaptations of Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. Other members of creative team includes designer Anthony Ward, lighting designer Mark Henderson and sound designer Claire Windsor, with compositions by Paul Englishby.
