This House
After enjoying
the two sell-out runs at the National Theatre, political drama This House is
all set to mark its premiere to the London West End for a limited season. Under
the superb direction of Jeremy Herrin renowned for People, Places and Things,
the blockbuster hit Parliamentary show has earned huge appreciation and
accolades from both the audiences and critics. The show has arrived in London after a
preliminary run at Chichester Festival Theatre.
This House is
also to mark its debut on November 19th. James Graham has penned the
show and set against the backdrop of parliamentary dispute of 1974. This was
the time when the government of James Callaghan received a vote of no
confidence. The play finely shows a tempestuous time in politics, with
settlement of arguments with fist-fights and laws, where it could be decided by
one vote. This House is a blunt reflection on modern day politics.
Docu-drama, The
Vote is one of the finest works of Graham. The show marked its debut at the
Donmar Warehouse and aired on election night on Channel 4. Some other popular
works are Broadway musical Finding Neverland, Privacy, which is all set to make
its opening in New York starring Daniel Radcliffe. Jeremy Herrin is known for
directing hard-hitting, five-star drama People, Places and Things. His past
productions are The Nether, Another Country and Absent Friends.
Role of Jack
Weatherill will be portrayed by Nathaniel Parker, who is known for the lead
role in the The Inspector Lynley Mysteries. Some of his hugely acclaimed
theatrical plays are Wolf Hall and The Audience. He has won an Olivier Award. Other
cast members include Steffan Rhodri as Walter Harrison and Phil as Bob Mellish.
Rae Smith has
designed This House and earned huge acclamation for correct transformation of
Parliament inside the theatre. Other creative team members are lighting
designer Paule Constable, sound designer Ian Dickinson and movement instructor
Scott Ambler. This House is a perfect replication of modern day politics and modern
audience will find it strikingly relevant. The show will make its opening at
the Garrick Theatre on November 19th until February 25th 2017.
