Ink
Rupert Goold’s sensational production
of James Graham’s new play Ink is all set to make its grand entry to the London
Westend Duke of York’s Theatre. The blockbuster show has enjoyed a critically
acclaimed sold-out season at the Almeida Theatre and has been now transferred
to the West End for limited season. Duke of York’s Theatre is all set to host
this drama which revolves around a young Rupert Murdoch in his bid to establish
The Sun newspaper.

Ink is adapted from the real life
saga of Murdoch’s rise to infamy and set during the era of late 60s. The show
beautifully depicts the birth of one of the country’s most influential
newspapers in 1969. In order to bring a change in the industry and to disrupt
the traditions of Fleet Street, Murdoch launches his own paper, alongside Larry
Lamb who is its first editor.
The lead role of Rupert Murdoch
is portrayed by Bertie Carvel renowned for some great works like The Hairy Ape
at the Old Vic Theatre and his Olivier Award-winning role in Matilda the Musical.
Other talented cast members include Richard Coyle (Coupling) as Larry Lamb,
alongside Oliver Birch, Rachel Caffrey, Pearl Chanda, Geoffrey Freshwater, Jack
Holden, Justin Salinger, David Schofield, Sophie Stanton, Tim Seed, Tony Turner
and Rene Zagger.
Ink is a gripping drama under the
direction of Rupert Goold whose credits include King Charles III, Made in
Dagenham. The show is penned by James Graham, known for another powerful
political comedy Labour of Love to be hosted at the Noel Coward Theatre. Other
key highlights of the spectacular production are design by Bunny Christie,
lighting design by Neil Austin, video design by Jon Driscoll and sound design
and original compositions by Adam Cork.
