Record Breaking Success of Wicked at Apollo Victoria

The award winning London show Wicked The Musical is still going strong with the audience. In the last week of UK, i.e. 3rd January 2015, the show was enjoyed by 45,000 people and grossed  £2,160,377.50, at Box Offices in London and Edinburgh. The show has broken earlier records of both the West End and UK as well as Ireland tour.

At the magnificent Apollo Victoria Theatre, the spectacular London production has set a new record with 9 sell out shows and gross of £1,023,819.00. Earlier record of Wicked was of £1,002,885 for week ending 1st January 2011.

In the history of London Westend, this is the first production that grossed more than £1 million in just one week. The great success of Wicked goes to its wonderful cast, superb direction and mesmerizing score.

The blockbuster London show Wicked The Musical is adapted from the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The novel was penned by Gregory Maguire. 44 million people have enjoyed the award winning show in 13 countries. Wicked New Star Cast

The hugely successful London musical, Wicked has been joined by a new star cast from 18th November 2013. The earlier announced star Willemijn Verkaik as Elphaba will be joined by Savannah Stevenson as Glinda.

 Stevenson has earlier worked in some other London theatre shows such as Chariots of Fire, Mary Poppins, and the Sir Trevor Nunn-directed Gone with the Wind and Aspects of Love. On the other hand Sam Kelly is making his return as The Wizard. He earlier performed in the year 2009-2010.

 Kelley has been one of the most comic actors ofUK since 1970s. He performed in various television programmes such as Porridge, ‘Allo ‘Allo!, On the Up, We’ll Think of Something, Barbara, Haggard and Black Books. Some of his theatre credit includes Sartre’s Kean and Grief.

 Jeremy Taylor will act as Fiyero. His theatre credits include We Will Rock You and The Sound of Music. Sue Kelvin as Madame Morrible and Paul Clarkson as Doctor Dillamond. Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose and Sam Lupton as Boq.

Wicked Performance Extended till 25th April 2015

The mesmerizing London show, Wicked has been extended at the Apollo Victoria Theatre! The stunning London musical will run upto 25th April 2015, i.e. six months of extension. The new dates tickets will go on sale from Monday 3rd February 2014.

On 27th September 2006, Wicked marked its debut at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Previews of the show started on 7th September. 5.5 million viewers have enjoyed the enduring friendship saga across the globe. In the history of London Westend, the show is the 15th longest running musical. Wicked is inspired from the popular novel by Gregory Maguire, whereas lyrics and composition by Stephen Schwartz. Joe Mantello’s superb direction makes the show a desirable experience.

Eugene Lee’s scenic designing, Susan Hilferty’s brilliant costumes, Kenneth Posner’s lighting and Tony Meola’s sound makes the show one of the most successful London musicals. Wayne Cilento’s musical staging and William David Brohn’s orchestrations gives Wicked a remarkable presentation. Wicked is about two girls who meet in the wonderland of Oz.
