The
Importance of Being Earnest
The hugely loved
Oscar Wilde’s classic and masterpiece, The Importance of Being Earnest is
running at the Vaudeville Theatre for a limited run. The challenging role of
Lady Bracknell is portrayed by the national treasure and poirot star, David
Suchet. The wonderful satire on Victorian manners has been directed Adrian by
Noble.
The Importance
of Being Earnest is certainly one of the funniest plays of English literature
with amazing repartee, witty dialogues and rib tickling funny portrayal
of pretence and pretentiousness makes everyone laugh out loud.
The story
revolves around two characters Algemon Moncrieff and John Worthing. In order to
get out of some unwanted obligations, both of them created fictitious
characters. John tells Cecily, his ward about the existence of his rogue
brother named as Earnest. This enables him to make tours to City and take the
guise of Earnest.
In the same
manner, Algernon creates a fictitious sickly friend, Bunbury. This enables him
to make trips to the country and get rid from the social engagements. The
stunning star cast comprises of Emily Barber as Gwendolen Fairfax, Michael Benz
as Jack Worthing, Philip Cumbus as Algernon Moncrieff, Imogen Doel as Cecily
Cardew, Michele Dotrice as Miss Prism and Richard O’Callaghan as Reverend Canon
Chasuble.
Other major
highlights of the funny London show, The Importance of Being Earnest includes
designs by Peter McKintosh, lighting by Howard Harrison, music by Larry Blank,
and sound by Gareth Owen. Under the superb direction of Adrian Noble who was
also the former Artistic Director of Royal Shakespeare Company. The immensely
talented director has received more than 20 Olivier award nominations.
The brand new
show, The Importance of Being Earnest runs for two hours and twenty minutes and
recommended for 8+ kids. The show will for limited runs at the magnificent
Vaudeville Theatre.
