Get set for a memorable revival of Martin McDonagh’s award winning black comedy, The Lieutenant of Inishmore! Aidan Turner of Poldark fame made his West End debut under the spectacular production of Michael Grandage Company. The story is set during the era of 1930s in County Galway, Ireland when the peace process of Northern Ireland is just getting underway.

The Lieutenant of Inishmore is a witty as well as ironical take on political condition and violence in Ireland. The show is all set to make its debut for a limited season at the West End’s Noel Coward Theatre from July 4th to September 8th 2018, with previews beginning June 23rd 2018.

The story of The Lieutenant of Inishmore revolves around Mad Padraic, who is a terrorist and also a part of splinter group INLA, known for torture and chip-shop bombing is returning after a torture stint. To his shock, he finds that his beloved cat is killed. Now, is it an accident or a murder?

The Lieutenant of Inishmore made its debut in the year 2001 at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon. The show has been enjoyed across the globe and has been penned by the multi-award winning British-Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. Some of the known works of this immensely talented writer are Hangmen, The Cripple of Inishmaan and The Pillowman, as well as movie In Bruges.

Aidan Turner who is known for his remarkable role in the BBC’s popular drama Poldark is portraying the role of Mad Padraic. Some of his popular movie and television works include Desperate Romantics and Being Human, along with The Hobbit franchise. Some his famous theatre work are The Plough and the Stars at the Barbican Theatre.

The show is directed by Michael Grandage along with superb creative team includes designer Christopher Oram, lighting designer Neil Austin and sound designer Adam Cork. The Lieutenant of Inishmore is not recommended for children.
