Funny Girl
Savoy Theatre is
all set to host the award winning and immensely anticipated London musical,
Funny Girl! In this Westend transfer, two time Olivier award winner Sheriden
Smith will star and is adapted from the 1964 classic musical, Funny Girl. Jule
Styne and Bob Merill’s classic movie was a huge hit. At the Menier Chocolate
Factory, the spectacular production broke various records. It sold out in just 90 minutes and later
transferred to Savoy Theatre.
The bitter sweet
musical revolves around the life of Fanny Brice, actress and comedian. In the
Broadway’s Zieffeld Follies, her stunning acting skills turned everything into
comedy. The actress falls in love with Nicky Arnstein, a professional gambler.
The show features some great musical numbers like ‘People’, ‘Funny Girl’ and ‘Don’t Rain On My
Parade’ and many more.
The must see
musical Funny Girl is all set to make its grand London debut at the magnificent
Savoy Theatre. The actress enjoyed great success with Legally Blonde and TV
drama Cilla. She won prestigious Olivier award for Best Actress and is a huge
favourite amongst the theatre lovers.
The spectacular
production, Funny Girl has been directed by Michael Mayer after his grand
successes on Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Spring Awakening. He
is the winner of Tony award for Best Direction, whereas Isobel Lennart’s
original book has been re-written by Tony award winning writer for Kinky Boots,
Harvey Fierstein.
