Catch the
sensational new blockbuster, Guys and Dolls at the opulent Phoenix Theatre! The
role of Miss Adelaide is portrayed by Rebel Wilson from 28th June to
21st August. After enjoying successful run at the in Chichester and
London's Savoy Theatre, the show is all set to be hosted at the Phoenix
Theatre! The show is consistently dazzling the audience with its wonderful
performances.
Gordon
Greenberg’s superb direction and Andrew Wrights stunning choreography along
with Cuban ballet star Carlos Acosta makes the show a delightful experience for
all. The show is inspired from Damon Runyon’s short stories, such as The Idyll
of Miss Sarah Brown and Blood Pressure. Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows have penned
the book, featuring music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, the show features some
amazing compositions such as “Luck Be a
Lady”, “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” and “My Time of Day”.
In the year
1950, the musical made its debut on Broadway and went on becoming a huge hit.
The show won prestigious 1951 Tony Award for Best New Musical. A movie version
was also made in Hollywood featuring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra
and Vivian Blaine.
The story of
Guys and Dolls is set against the backdrop of New York during prohibition era.
The story revolves around serial gambler Nathan Detroit who requires money for
an illegal craps game. Phoenix Theatre is currently hosting the latest
production with leading cast members such as Samantha Spiro as Miss Adelaide and Richard
Kind as Nathon Detroit. The two hours and fifty minutes show is recommended for
all age groups.
