The Ferryman
London Westend theatre Gielgud is
all set to host The Ferryman from 20th June 2017! The spectacular
play by Jez Butterworth after The River and the multi-award winning Jerusalem
will be directed by Sam Mendes and designed by Rob Howell. The phenomenal
production by Sonia Friedman Production has been universally acclaimed by
critics with 5 star reviews.
At the Royal Court Theatre, The
Ferryman has already broken several records. The show will be transferred to
London Westend for 16 weeks from 20 June to 7 October 2017. The show made its
debut with an opening night on 29 June 2017. Writer Jez Butterworth has long
association with with the Royal Court Theatre with some great blockbuster drama
Mojo. The show made its premiere in 1995 and went on winning prestigious Laurence
Olivier Award for Best New Comedy along with an Evening Standard Award.
Jerusalem is stated as Butterworth's
most successful play and referred as "contemporary vision of life in
England's green and pleasant land". The show featured Mark Rylance as
Johnny 'Rooster' Byron. The show won prestigious Evening Standard Theatre Award
and Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Best New Play. On April 2011, the show
made its Broadway debut and earns rave reviews. The show had a Tony Award
nomination for Best New Play.
The Ferryman stars Paddy
Considine, the English actor, filmmaker, and musician. Some of his key movies
are '24 Hour Party People' (2002), 'Hot Fuzz' (2007), 'The Bourne Ultimatum'
(2007), 'The World's End' (2013) and Macbeth (2015). His television roles
include 'Peaky Blinders' and 'The Suspicions of Mr Whicher'. Laura Donnelly will
be the part of show and starred in The River at the Royal Court and on Broadway.
Irish actress Genevieve O'Reilly will be also act in the show. Other members of
The Ferryman are Bríd Brennan, Turlough Convery, Fra Fee, Tom Glynn-Carney,
Stuart Graham, Gerard Horan, Carla Langley, Des McAleer, Conor MacNeill, Rob
Malone, Dearbhla Molloy, Eugene O’Hare and Niall Wright.
